Debra D. Owen focuses her practice on the areas of education and employment law. Ms. Owen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, from Union University, Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees, with honors, from Memphis State University (now University of Memphis), and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, with honors, from the Nashville School of Law. She is currently licensed both as an attorney and as a secondary educator. Prior to her legal practice, she taught social sciences in grades seven through twelve in the Jackson-Madison County School System. Her legal practice includes seven years as in-house counsel for the same school system.
In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Owen is listed as a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Mediator. She completed her initial training at David Lipscomb University and has participated in continuing mediation education sponsored by the Memphis Bar Association.
